Popular entrepreneur BLord has ignited conversations after revealing how a teenage hacker once breached one of his apps early in his career. Speaking at SMFest Awka 2025, he recounted that the boy was “very young” but managed to hack the app with surprising ease.
Rather than reporting the incident, BLord said he hired the teenager immediately to help strengthen the platform’s security.
“I lost $1.2 million to hackers on one of my apps. I caught one of the hackers, and instead of involving the police, I employed him to work for me,” he shared.
The story drew strong reactions from the audience, with many praising it as a smart and unconventional business move, echoing the practice of hiring ethical hackers in other parts of the world.
However, some were skeptical. Critics referenced BLord’s past controversies, including EFCC investigations and prior accusations linked to crypto activities, which he has denied. For them, the story seemed like a convenient way to restore his public image, while others still applauded it as a bold leadership decision.
Regardless of public opinion, the confession became one of the most talked-about moments at the event. One attendee commented:
“Hiring the hacker instead of arresting him? That’s genius.” Another added: “Hmm… with BLord’s history, I don’t know what to believe anymore.”
BLord’s revelation has reignited discussions about cybersecurity and the importance of discovering and nurturing young tech talent in Nigeria.
